The pieces of me

​Hello Anchored Souls! Let me first introduce myself for those who do not know me. My name is Jermai Harrison and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), business owner, Minister, “Podcast” host, and a lover of Christ! I have spent many years working with young people in many capacities, but more recently as a Youth Leader and Therapist. 

The reason for this first blog being titled, Pieces of Me, is because I want to speak to the understanding that with all the accomplishments I have, it took years of overcoming insecurities, imposter syndrome, low self esteem, self doubt, and confusion to get here. A lot of people seem to think successful people have it all together; especially with social media posts giving the illusion that everything is all peachy where people run through beautiful grassy plains with fluffy clouds and bunnies! That is NOT the case! The puzzle piece has a crack in it for a reason and here is why…
For too many years, I wanted to fit in and struggled to find a place where I felt seen, understood, and fully welcomed. It wasn’t until I encountered God, where I came to terms that He created me, unapologetically, the way that I am. If God, who is all-knowing, understood that the world needed a Jermai, well then why would I apologize for being who I am?? I also came to terms of why my personality is the way that it is, and it reached far beyond what my eyes can see and what my mind can comprehend. I realized that I can reach my “targeted audience” which I gave the acronym of M.Y.Y. People: Misfits, Young Adults, and Young People. M.Y.Y. People need to see that you may not have a specific place where you belong, but that is okay because there is a place for you! 
My hope is this, with the blog entries, that I can promote people to have difficult conversations with themselves and others around them. I want to cover the “topics” that others may shy away from, but to shed light on the beauty of differences. I want people to read some of the blogs and find hope, healing, validation, truth, and love in the words they read! Stay tuned for more! With God being my help, I want to make sure that I post a blog weekly!
